BRIDLEWOOD FARM in Ocala, Florida was established by Arthur Appleton
in 1975. MY GALLANT and FROSTY SKATER were a pair of Appleton's earliest
purchases who ran with much success in his colors. MY GALLANT won the
Blue Grass Stakes (G1) for Appleton in 1973, earned $185,526, and became
one of Bridlewood's first stallions. FROSTY SKATER won the Vagrancy
H. (G3), earned $202,862, and was the dam of G3 winner and current Bridlewood
stallion FROSTY THE SNOWMAN.
Others
honored here are SHARP KITTY, the dam of G1-winning fillies FAMILY STYLE
and LOST KITTY; EXCITING DEVORCEE, the dam of stakes winners ROCKY MARRIAGE,
THE RED ROLLS, and LEMHI LOVE; WINTER PRINCESS, who produced French
G2 winner APALACHEE PRINCE and stakes winner MADEMOISELLE JOLIE. Lastly,
FIRE PLUG, a gelding, was a durable sprinter who won 28 races in 54
starts including stakes at 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, earning $705,175. --A.P. |
