SIRE: Fox - Clumsey - (Old) Hautboy - WHITE D'ARCY TURK. DAM: Mare by Bethell's Castaway - Appleyard's grey mare by Brimmer or son of Brimmer - Royal Mare (Family 40). Chestnut 1727. Bred by Captain Appleyard, Yorkshire. Sired Jenny Cameron, a 1742 filly from a Sultan mare, who was exported to the U.S.-- with the filly Betty Blazella (by Blaze) in utero--in 1751, and became a significant American mare.

Quiz SIRE: Buzzard - Woodpecker - Herod - Tartar - (Old) Partner - Jigg - BYERLEY TURK. Byerley Turk Sire Line DAM: Miss West by Matchem - mare by Regulus - mare by (Old) Crab - Ebony by Flying Childers - Old Ebony by Basto - Massey mare (Family 5). Chestnut 1798. Bred by Rev. Goodricke. A top racehorse from the Byerley Turk line who ran for 7 years. On his second outing at 3 he won the Doncaster St. Leger going off at the highest odds. Sold to Francis Dawson at the end of his 3 year old season, in which he also won a race at Malton. Other top races he won included the Jockey Club Plate at Newmarket Second Spring (1802); the King's Plate at York (1802); the Cup at Brocket Hall, Hertsfordshire (three times); the Reading Cup (1805); the Oatlands Stakes (1806), and several matches. Sold in 1804 to Mr. F. Neale. Retired to stud owned by Lord Rous. His best racing son was Tigris, who won the 2,000 Guineas Stakes in 1815. Died in 1826 after covering a mare. |
